What Our Coastal Environment Does to Trees
Trees along the Jersey Shore face conditions that inland properties don't. Salt air damages bark and foliage, making trees more vulnerable to disease and weakening branch structure over time. Sandy, low-nutrient soil limits the root system's ability to anchor and sustain the tree. Atlantic winds stress canopies repeatedly, and an overgrown or unbalanced crown acts like a sail during nor'easters and summer storms.
Regular trimming reduces canopy density so wind passes through rather than pushing against the tree. Dead or overhanging branches that might hang on for years in a calmer climate can become projectiles in a shore storm. Our 20-plus years working in Cape May County mean we approach trimming with the local environment in mind, not a one-size-fits-all schedule.
Tree Trimming & Pruning Services We Provide
Tree trimming covers a range of work, each with different consequences for the tree and the property around it. We handle overgrown, dead, damaged, and structurally imbalanced branches for both residential clients and commercial property managers.
What our tree trimming work addresses:
- Canopy shaping — Maintains the tree's natural form, improves symmetry, and keeps limbs clear of rooflines and neighboring structures
- Dead branch removal — Eliminates immediate fall hazards and limits the spread of decay into healthy wood
- Storm-damaged branch removal — Addresses splits, cracks, and hanging limbs before they become a safety issue
- Routine residential pruning — Improves airflow and sunlight penetration to support long-term tree health
- Commercial trimming programs — Scheduled service to maintain curb appeal, keep walkways and parking areas clear, and meet property maintenance standards

Why the NJ-Licensed Tree Expert Credential Matters
New Jersey regulates tree care through the NJ Board of Tree Experts, which oversees two licensing tiers: the Licensed Tree Care Operator and the Licensed Tree Expert (LTE). All businesses providing tree care services in the state must register with the Board and employ at least one licensed individual. The LTE credential authorizes the full scope of tree care work, including pruning, tree risk assessment, diagnosis and treatment of tree disease, cabling and bracing, and fertilization. Both license types require 32 continuing education credits every two years to stay current.
Tree work carries real safety risk. When branches or whole trees come down, proximity to structures, vehicles, and people matters. The SeaView Landscapes LLC team includes NJ-certified tree professionals, which means the people making decisions about your trees have the credentials New Jersey requires for that work. Homeowners can verify any company's registration through the NJ Board of Tree Experts before signing anything.

Frequently Asked Questions
When Is the Best Time of Year to Trim Trees?
Late fall through early spring is generally the right window, when trees are dormant and cuts heal cleanly before the growing season. That said, dead, damaged, or hazardous branches don't wait for the calendar. Those should be removed as soon as they're identified, regardless of the time of year.
How Often Do Residential Trees Need to Be Trimmed?
It depends on the tree's growth rate and how close it sits to your home, driveway, or neighboring property. Many residential trees benefit from trimming every one to three years. A site visit and free estimate can give you a clearer picture for your specific property.
What Should I Do After a Storm Damages a Tree?
Don't attempt to assess or remove damaged branches yourself if they're large or near your home. Have a professional evaluate which branches pose an immediate safety risk and which can wait for scheduled trimming. Our team handles post-storm tree care alongside our full trimming and removal services.
Do You Handle Commercial Tree Trimming?
Yes. We work with commercial property managers and complexes throughout Cape May County on both scheduled maintenance programs and one-time trimming projects.
